Numerous City of Santa Clarita Recreation facilities will remain closed today due to air quality issues resulting from current Southern California Fires. City-organized Youth Sports programs are also canceled today due to smoky conditions.

The City’s Sports Complex Skate Park and Aquatic Center remain closed today and all City-organized Youth Sports programs and practices are canceled today at Canyon Country Park, Valencia Meadows Park, and Valencia Heritage Park. Other youth group reservations also remain canceled at Santa Clarita Park, Bouquet Canyon Park, Newhall Park, and Old Orchard Park. Though classes remain canceled, the City’s Sports Complex Activities Center and registration desk are open.

“Due to air quality issues as reported by the AQMD, many of the City of Santa Clarita’s Recreation facilities will remain closed today to prevent health hazards,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid vigorous indoor and outdoor activity.”

Central Park, which is currently being utilized as a staging area for emergency fire operations, remains closed to the public, as well. All recreation activity at the location is also canceled until further notice.
