Metrolink Update #2

Inspections of Metrolink tracks, structures and signals have been mostly been completed and no damage from today’s earthquake has been reported. In addition, inspections on portions of Metrolink’s routes on the Burlington Northern – Santa Fe Railway and the Union Pacific Railroad are also almost complete as well. Trains on all Metrolink routes are expected to operate but will encounter delays as follows this evening.

Orange County Line: 15 minutes
91 Line: 30-45 minutes
Inland Empire – Orange Co. Line: 30-45 minutes
San Bernardino Line: 45-60 minutes
Ventura Co. Line: 20-30 minutes
Antelope Valley Line: 20-30 minutes
Riverside Line: 45-60 minutes

Metrolink Update

From Metrolink – “Due to the magnitude of this event, Metrolink service is still operating at 20 mph at this time pending an inspection of our tracks within a 30 mile radius of the earthquake epicenter. As inspections are completed, Metrolink personnel are releasing the inspected sections of track for trains to operate at regular speeds.

Trains that operate on the Inland Empire – Orange County, Orange County, Ventura County, Riverside and 91 Lines operate on routes owned by the Burlington Northern – Santa Fe Railway and/or Union Pacific Railroad are now being allowed to operate at 20 mph until those rail operators complete their inspections. Passengers can expect significant delays.

Due to significant traffic to the Metrolink website, there may be delays in posting this update.”

Damage Reports

City of Santa Clarita facilities reports no damage whatsoever at City Hall, Metrolink stations or the Transit Maintenance Facility.

The City’s Special Districts Division completed visual inspections of the paseo bridges and no reports of bridge damage have been received and all bridges are open. More comprehensive inspections will begin in the next few days.

College of the Canyons reports their facilities staff completed inspections and assessment at BOTH campuses, and they have no damage. College of the Canyons is continuing summer classes, fall registration and all other operations as normal.

A moderate earthquake centered 3 miles west-southwest of Chino Hills was felt throughout southern California at 11:42 a.m. this morning. There have been no reports of damage thus far in the City of Santa Clarita and surrounding areas. View more information about the earthquake.
